What is an adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is an art of applying a precise force in a specific direction to a joint that is fixated and not moving properly, which may be irritating your nervous system. This restores motion to the joint, helping it gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The result of this safe and natural procedure is improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.
Do adjustments hurt? For most patients, chiropractic adjustments are painless. Some patients who are new to chiropractic treatments may involuntarily stiffen or resist the adjustment and feel a small amount of discomfort until they are able to relax during treatment. In addition, mild discomfort may be felt if the patient has had a recent trauma, such as whiplash, due to inflammation.
Many patients report a feeling of relief, calmness, and a sense of well-being after an adjustment; others feel improved mobility and pain relief.
What is the noise I hear during an adjustment?
When your vertebrae are adjusted, tiny pockets of gas are released from the joints, making a “popping” noise. It’s the same sound you hear when you pop your knuckles. Not all patients hear this noise. It’s not a sign that the adjustment is working or not working.
Are adjustments safe? Dozens of research studies have documented the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments. They are significantly safer than taking medications or having spine surgery. Research shows complications from chiropractic adjustments are rare and random.
Can I adjust myself? No. This is dangerous. Chiropractic adjustments need to be performed by a skilled, trained and licensed professional.

We offer our patients kinesiology tape for multiple different types of injuries. K-tape is a stretchy fabric backed by an adhesive, which is applied directly over an affected area. Unlike standard taping, k-tape is flexible which provides support but allows safe ranges of motion to help patients in their rehabilitation process. There are many benefits to K-tape including but not limited to (pain relief, reduced swelling and inflammation, and accelerated recovery from bruises and contusion). K-tape gently lifts the skin which creates space between the skin and tissue allowing lymphatic vessels to open and allow drainage which reduces pressure on blood vessels and pain receptors allowing a quicker recovery time.
